Alisa came with us again to Gualin, no lectures this time.  Instead we floated through the karsts on the Lijiang River cruise to Yangshuo where we saw a local theater performance in an outdoor theater with the river and mountains as sets.  Yang Zhimou choreographed the production that was performed by hundreds of local people.  The next day we visited a rice terraced mountain village where the women are famous for growing their hair to the ground, needlework and cooking rice in bamboo.  We spent much of the afternoon with several in their inn.
