(Composed by Leah) Yesterday we climbed the hill with my moms' friend's friends. I was super tired at the very end and the whole way there. At the very end we went to the top of the mountain and on the gondola on the way down. Then we went to a restaurant, and we had our own room with a couch. It was awesome.
We have a lot of mosquito problems here in China. We had to get a mosquito net for it.
(Composed by Leah) What was good in the last couple weeks is I finally got a program so I can play minecraft with my friend Aurelio. The person who made it is still working on it, and I know the person who made it. Also I met some other kid named Henry. I have been playing with him a lot. He always wants to buy toys, and he says "You know" a lot.
(Composed by Leah) The first week of school was fine, but then I started to not like it. I think FOP is way better. I don't like the bus at school because there's this boy that's really mean. He calls me: butt face, weirdo, meanie and other things. I don't feel like writing about the other things I don't like, but there are other things. Some of it got resolved but not all. He stopped being mean to me sort of, but he still calls me butt face sometimes.

(Composed by Leah) Friday I get home on the bus early so I went to the track where there are monkey bars. I played on the monkey bars, and then I met a boy named Henry. I showed Henry a lot of things I could do like going backwards. Then he came home to see my fish. He walked in the door with his shoes on, and his mom said not to. My mom said it was okay. That night Lucy came over on her bike and visited and showed me pictures of her when she was a baby.
Saturday morning we took the bus and went to Walmart in the mall and saw live fish to eat and live shrimp to eat at Walmart!
(Composed by Leah) Yesterday after I got to school we started to do Maths, and after we went to dance class. The studio was closed so we did dance class in our regular classroom. We did pretty silly moves like the disco and the bogie man. Then we went to lunch after a while. I had chicken and rice. There was a boy about to sit next to me, and then Harriet said “Sorry, somebody’s sitting there” and sat next to me. After lunch we played a game and then went to singing practice. The teacher is super mean like he makes fun of people’s names.
Then I went back to Miss Bobi’s and Mrs. Champness’ class, and then we got onto our busses. Alisa tried to find me at my bus stop but couldn’t and so we went and dropped off the other kids and came back. My mom’s best friend was there. She brought me to my mom who was so happy to see me. Then we went home and ate skittles and watched my fish.
(Composed by Leah) Friday (March 6th) we woke up and went shopping. We found this little tea place and I drank 18 little cups of tea (you hear that sonny?). And when we were going shopping we saw scorpions and crickets and bugs on a stick for lunch (whisper: I think that’s kind of gross). We left Lijang and got back to Guangzhou.
The next day, Saturday, was my birthday. I had noodles for breakfast. Then in the afternoon Lucy came over, and I got new fish because the ones we got at the zoo all died. Then after that I saw the present Lucy gave me, a card and a little doll that was like a statue. Then she had another surprise for me. She brought me to a fancy hotel that had a restaurant. We had to change elevators and went to the very top. And guess what! It rotated. It was also a buffet.
Yesterday my mom had meetings and I hung out in Lucy’s mom Xin’s office. I watched a Chinese movie with Lucy. I didn’t understand it, but it was funny. Hee hee ha ha. Then we went home and collapsed on the bed.
This morning I woke up really early for my first day of school. I woke up at 6 o’clock. I got a taxi to my school. There’s an amusement park right next to my school, and I was hoping that would be my playground. Sadly, it was not. But the playground is fun.
I’m in school for 8 hours per day. And I was exhausted when I got home.

(Composed by Leah) Tuesday (March 3, 2015), the Fulbright kids went to Mu Mansion. We walked up tons of stairs and talked about dreams a little. We went down again, and somebody went to the bathroom, so the other one and I kicked rocks, threw rocks and raced. Then we found a fake peacock feather and gave it to somebody else.
In the afternoon I went to Sophia and Helen's room and we played Minecraft and watched Minecraft videos and Big Hero 6.
The next day we did an art project, and I made a care package for my dad. I made a bracelet, but I know he wouldn't wear it. Then I made a painting for him, and then I bought a heart keychain with a fish head.
On Thursday we woke up and got on a private bus which had curtains, was really high up and had a big window. Then we got to Leaping Tiger Gorge and walked down many stairs. We saw a thingamajiggy with a chair that two men carried, and you can sit in the middle. The river was super fast. Then we walked up the stairs, and I needed a fuel up, and I got a snickers and popcorn. The popcorn tasted like kettle corn.

(Composed by Leah) Saturday (February 28, 2015) we took the plane to Lijiang. It took four hours. When we got there the airport was all made out of wood and really cute. The taxi dropped us off on a main street and the man from the inn met us. We had to roll our suitcases through the narrow streets of the old town to get to our inn. I realized for the first time that I like hot tea. The next day I went to Black Dragon Pool (but it's not really a pool, it's a park). I dressed up as Naxi and took pictures. And I got a little ceramic bird like a whistle that you can make sing. The next day I went to the kids' orientation while my mom went to meetings. We practiced Naxi words, and then took a quiz. I was one of the winners, and I got a real jade necklace. Then we made kites, and mine worked okay. It was sort of hard to get up in the air.
(Composed by Leah) We went to the zoo yesterday (February 26, 2015), and I got ten goldfish. First I was using a bucket to get them. Then I was using this cool net which worked even better. They're at my friend Lucy's house right now. I might be able to bring them back to Modesto, but if I can't I'm thinking about getting new goldfish in Modesto. Most of them are orange, but two of them are black, and one is orange and white. Everybody wanted to take a picture of me. Seven people took pictures of me. I think it was because of my blond hair or something. I think I was another attraction at the zoo.
(Composed by Leah) We woke up at 5:30 and had to wait two hours to go to breakfast (February 24, 2105). I stuffed myself with bacon. The breakfast buffet was awesome. After that I tried to heely up the hill, but my legs were hurting. We went shopping instead. I got oreos. I ate an oreo and my mom had one too. I heely-ed around all the corners in the store. I spent the afternoon in the hotel lobby coloring. I drank a sprite and colored a fish poster and gave it to the girl at the hotel desk. Here's a photo of our hotel.
(Composed by Leah) We arrived in the Guangzhou Airport this morning (February 23, 2015). I hung out with Lucy and saw our apartment. Lucy and I don't exactly speak the same language, but we have fun together. At lunch Lucy and I ran around on the stage. We ran and jumped and sat down on a chair. We got ice cream and we saw big fish, little fish and medium sized fish. Lucy and I wanted to spend the whole day together. P.s. pink fuzzy underwear were hanging to dry near our apartment and also just plain pink.
(Composed by Leah) Yesterday (February 22, 2015) we left San Francisco Airport on a sixteen hour flight to Hong Kong. My Grandma and Dad said goodbye to us at the airport. The sandwiches on the plane were good. I had two of them. When we got to Hong Kong we walked to our hotel which is attached to the airport. It was 8 o'clock at night but in California it was 5 o'clock in the morning.
